FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS
The Chamber of Shipping PANAMA (PANAMA CHAMBER OF SHIPPING) emphasizes, to guide vessel operators, both the Panama Canal Authority and Port operators require that they be provided by a deposit sufficient funds in cash and advance before the ships arrive in port so you can cover all the costs.
Therefore, it is necessary that appropriate arrangements are made for these funds in local banks in Panama by electronic transfer, so that they are available immediately before the arrival of vessels to terminals of the Panama Canal or the Ports in the Republic of Panama. The local currency used for payments in the Panama Canal Authority or any of the Panamanian port terminals is the American dollar.
This deposit should not only include the charges for the transit of the Panama Canal, stay in port charges and port charges (if applicable), but should also include sufficient funds to cover the shipping agency fees, cash advance masters (where required), provided supplies and repairs among others.
It is recommended that owners / operators to make these arrangements for you at least 5 days before the scheduled arrival / the vessel (s) to avoid delays in the transfer of funds, delays for national holidays, etc.., Since the ships entering for which no funds are received, they must remain anchored to meet this requirement
